Session 1. The MAT Assessment: what do you want it to tell you?

During this session we will review the information required to understand and formulate a seating and wheelchair prescription. The session will provide a hands on opportunity to understand the components of a MAT assessment and simulation of shape, angles, and centre of mass/gravity.

Session 2: The Physics of Foot Propulsion…Stop the Slide!

This session will review the reasons why people slide during foot propulsion by looking at the physics of the action and the set-up of the seating and wheelchair. We will review the overall decision making required to determine the style and choice of seating (backs and cushions as well as secondary supports) and wheelchairs for foot propulsion.
